A large focus for us recently has been the rap battle. Partly because it’s awesome and mostly because it’s difficult. Not only have I been trying to create some of the illest raps ever, but the coding for the scene has been tricky. Izzy is a veteran, but new to unity and all of its fun little quirks. So that fact, and that we want so much from a scene, has been a little milestone for us to achieve.
We have created the forest entrance where you bump into your archnemesis, Witney, to cue the rap battle. Of course not everything is juiced (for the non-devs out there who, like me, have no idea what that means it’s – polished, final touch ups), but it’s looking very close to how we envisioned!
As you can see in the picture below, our hopes for the rap battle was to have a bunch of floating words and you click (for final phone product tap) and drag the word to the corresponding line. The thing on the left is a timer, adding that element of difficulty – sweet rhymes and a time limit? Uhh oooh! We’ll also throw in a few red herrings just for a laugh too. I’ll tell you what, writing raps was definitely a lot trickier than I thought. I really had to get into my groove. Luckily some Vanilla Ice and Salt ‘n Peppa helped me out.
We even gave Witney a bit of a re-design too! Slightly longer torso and re-chiselling those cheekbones. Meeeeow!
